Dear Parents and Carers
As you may be aware, there are currently many National changes occurring to both the Curriculum and the Assessment and Qualifications Framework at KS3, GCSE and at A Level. I am writing to let you know that the Governing Body has authorised the school to hold an additional INSET day so that teaching staff can ensure that these changes are carefully implemented at our school.
The additional INSET Day is scheduled for Monday 4th January 2016, so students are expected back to school in the New Year on Tuesday 5th January. However, please note that all Year 11 students will be expected to attend their scheduled mock examinations on Monday 4th January.
We appreciate this change in the School Calendar might be late notice to some parents. Therefore, the school will be open to students during the INSET Day and we will provide supervised activities for those unable to make alternative arrangements. If students are attending on Monday 4th January, they will need to arrive at the usual time, in full school uniform and report to the Reception in the West Wing at Upper Oldfield Park. We will not have any catering facilities that day, so students will need to come with a packed lunch. We would appreciate the return of the attached reply slip by Friday 11th December for any students from Year 7 to Year 10 who will be attending school on 4th January to aid our planning.
I hope you are in agreement with the Governing Body that this additional INSET Day will allow Hayesfield Girls’ School and Mixed Sixth Form to ensure that these unprecedented large National changes do not impact on the progress and learning of our students.
