All subjects build enrichment into their study programmes, whether visits to the school from leading authors or academics, participating in conferences and events with other students locally and nationally or undertaking field work and trips.
However, the Sixth Form also provides a universal enrichment programme designed to develop broader life and employment skills.
Tutorial and PSHE Programme
In morning tutor sessions and the PSHE session on Thursday afternoon students will set personal targets and review their progress 1:1 with the tutor. In addition, students will undertake team-building activities and debate current affairs. At the same time this is the key opportunity to undertake preparation for and gather information on work experience and higher education opportunities.
Students will get the opportunity to find out about a wide range of higher education opportunities throughout their time in the Sixth Form. Some university staff will come to Hayesfield to provide lectures or seminars on subject-specific topics but every student also gets the opportunity to visit at least three Universities during their time with us to find out about the benefits of higher education and how to apply.
We run an annual programme of career-related seminars where local and national employers, such as Rotork International, KPMG or GCHQ visit to offer advice on the advantages of careers in their sectors and help students find out more about entry routes both at 18 and post-university.
